Can I feed my dog a vegan diet?
Depending on the supplier of your plant-based food, you may need to add nutritional supplements.
This is not the case with our Vutter!. Because: Vutter! is a complete feed and therefore covers 100% of the needs. This means that all the necessary proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and nutrients are contained directly in Vutter!.
Vutter! is a complete feed and therefore 100% tailored to your needs.
We have spent years researching and developing to create a vegan dog food that delivers the same nutritional value as a conventional product. Each can is rich in high-quality proteins, essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals - everything your dog needs for a healthy life without you having to feed additional supplements.
Dogs are very important to us. Our entire team consists of dog owners and dog lovers. That's why one thing is particularly important to us: feeding dogs according to their needs so that they don't lack anything.
Our Vutter! is 100% needs-based: This means that it contains all the important proteins, amino acids, nutrients, vitamins and minerals that a dog needs for a healthy life. In addition, your dog also enjoys the taste - win-win! Several acceptance tests have shown that the varieties of our vegan dog food were accepted at least as well as conventional food.
Simply put, this means that the dogs chose to eat our plant-based Vutter! at least as often as they did well-known premium dog food. By the way: our Vutter! was almost always eaten.
No - we can reassure you. Vutter! contains all the important proteins that your pet needs for a healthy life. It doesn't matter where a dog gets its protein from. The main thing is that it tastes good.
A long, long time ago, humans began domesticating dogs. Over time, they began feeding their dogs more than just meat.
First the waste products were added, then more and more vegetables and carbohydrates were added.
This led to the development of a dog's gastrointestinal tract. Today, wolves and dogs are hardly comparable in terms of their diet.
The dog has evolved from a pure carnivore to a versatile omnivore and is now able to use plant-based protein sources as an energy source. Read more about it here .
What do I need to consider when changing my dog’s food?
A change in feed should never be implemented 100% overnight.
We recommend that you and your four-legged friend follow at least the following guidelines:
- Day 1+2: 75% previous feed and 25% Vutter!
- Day 3+4: 50% previous feed and 50% Vutter!
- Day 5+6: 25% previous feed and 75% Vutter!
From day 7 you can give your furry friend 100% Vutter!
Do you have any questions about the change or do you have any other questions during the process? Our nutritionists who specialize in dogs will be happy to help you. Contact us.
Of course! Just send us a message and we will do our best to answer all your questions.

As with any change in food, your dog’s stool may change.
This may be because your dog needs a slower change in food, for example. In this case, you should extend the periods we have specified a little.
If there is a persistent negative change in stool, you should consult your veterinarian.
Please also note that the change can always have different reasons. Your vet can help you with various tests to get to the bottom of the cause.
This varies depending on the dog breed, size, weight and activity level. That's why every Vutter! can always has a range of amounts you should give your dog. You can use this as a guide when feeding.
Our recommendation: First, test slowly what the optimal amount is for your dog. Keep an eye on your dog's weight and adjust the amount of food if necessary.
Pay attention to signs such as gastrointestinal problems, diarrhea, vomiting or skin abnormalities. As with any change in food, this can be caused by a change that is too rapid or by tolerance problems.
Try giving the Vutter! a little less and changing it over more slowly. If the problems improve, it was because the change was too quick and you can continue with the change without any worries.
Especially with sensitive dogs, you should switch to the new food as slowly as possible. If you are unsure, it is best to seek advice from your veterinarian.
More questions about Vutter!
More and more people are questioning their meat consumption and are living flexitarian, vegetarian or vegan lifestyles. Why not change the diet of your beloved four-legged friends too? Our Vutter! contains everything that dogs need - without using any animal ingredients.
In order to keep the protein content in our wet food as high as possible, we do not use the whole soybean, but only parts of it. Firstly, we use soy texturate. Here, the protein of the soybean is textured to achieve a better consistency and structure. Secondly, we use soy protein isolate, which is the pure protein from the soybean.
Our soy protein texturate is delivered to us directly from our supplier in Austria.
The soy protein isolate used in our Vutter! comes from a long-standing supplier in China – a country with a centuries-old cultivation tradition.
Our sustainability journey has only just begun. In the future, we also want to source our soy protein isolate from Europe in order to shorten transport routes. We are currently still looking for suitable suppliers.
Yes. No genetic engineering is used in the cultivation and production of our soy.
Our Vutter! is filled into tin cans. When disposed of in the yellow bin, tin is completely recyclable and can therefore be made into new products again and again.
If you dispose of the paper band separately from the can, it can also be recycled.
What do I do if...
Please check the ingredients list of our products before ordering them.
In general, a vegetarian or vegan diet is especially recommended for dogs that are prone to intolerances or allergies.
In any case, we recommend that you consult a veterinarian with a nutritional background.
That is also possible.
Some of our customers feed mixed food: for example, they replace the evening ration with Vutter! and give the familiar dry or wet food in the morning. Find out more about flexitarian dog nutrition here .
Unlike dogs, cats are pure carnivores. They cannot process plant-based protein sources in a way that allows them to obtain energy from them.
According to current research, a vegan diet for cats leads to malnutrition and, in the worst case, to premature death.
